AWCZlogoblackborderwebThe American Women's Club of Zurich is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to providing opportunities for friendship and personal development.  We actively engage in philanthropic and community service projects in the greater Zurich region, throughout Switzerland and in the larger global community.
 
FAWCO

newlogoThe AWCZ is a founding member of FAWCO, an international network of around 12,000 members in 64 clubs spanning 34 countries. This not-for-profit, UN-accredited organization promotes the interests of American citizens living abroad.  FAWCO contributes to the global community through development grants, educational awards and support for disaster relief funds. As a member of the AWCZ you are also a member of FAWCO.

What is FAWCO?

  • FAWCO is an international federation of independent organization whose mission is to build strong support networks for its American and international membership; to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide; to advocate for the rights of U.S. citizens overseas; and to mobilize the skills of its membership in support of global initiatives for education, the environment, health and human rights. 
  • FAWCO serves as a resource and channel of information for its members, promotes the rights of U.S. citizens living overseas and contributes to the global community through philanthropy and global issues task forces.
  • A not-for-profit New York-based corporation, FAWCO is also a UN-accredited NGO with Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council.
  • The philanthropic arm of FAWCO - The FAWCO Foundation - is an independent entity, which has donated more than $1,000,000 in education awards and development grants since its inception in 1967.
  • FAWCO’s members and volunteers are motivated individuals who care about the world and want to make it a better place. FAWCO’s overarching goal is to improve the lives of women and girls worldwide, especially in the areas of human rights, health, education and the environment.

Are you creative, like to plan events, good on the computer, a food and wine connisseur, or just like to help out wherever you're needed?  Our calendar of events is filled with fun activities, and we need volunteers to help bring them to fruition. WE NEED YOU!  Please contact VP Events to sign up or if you have questions. 

Club Activities

Excursions:
Discovering beautiful Switzerland and occasionally neighboring Germany, Italy or France, and meeting new members is what the Excursions team is about. Our very popular group is looking for a new coordinator. If you enjoy visiting new places and planning a day out, please contact VP Member Relations and Activities.

Volunteer Coordinator:
Member Relations is looking for someone to help keep track of members who are interested in volunteering across the various activities and events at the Club. Short hours. Please contact VP Member Relations and Activities.

Saturday Sociables
Coordinator:
let’s get together sometime…Do you know some fun venues in and around Zurich for drinks and conversation? We’re looking for someone to choose locations for a once-monthly night out open to members and their partners/ spouses. Contact VP Member Relations and Activities for more information.

Quiz Night at the Pub: enjoy testing your trivia knowledge against others over drinks? The AWCZ Pub trivia team needs a new coordinator. The AWCZ Trivia Team meets at the Oliver Twist Pub (Rindermarkt 8, 8001 Zurich) every second Monday of the month to test our brain power. Please contact VP Member Relations and Activities for more information.

The Round Robin:

Editor: Manage the publication of The Round Robin issues six times a year. We need members who have communications and organizational skills, experience with Microsoft Word, writing and/or publishing experience not required but helpful. Please contact the editor if you are interested in this key role.

Assistant Editor: Assists the Editor with review of submissions and distribution of content to copy editors. Please contact the editor if you are interested.

Copy Editors: we can use more copy editors to assist the articles with fact checking, proofread, format stories for production and grammar check. Please contact the editor if you are interested.

Distribution Leader: Work with a team to organize the mailing of The Round Robin team.  Transport magazines to the post office for mailing. Only requires 2-4 hours every other month. Perks: lively discussions with the team while you organize the mailing and you get to take home your copy that day! Please contact the editor to take on this role today.

 

Philanthropy and Social Engagement (PHASE)

The Round Robin Magazine
RoundRobinCollageThe Round Robin is the volunteer-produced magazine available exclusively by and for AWCZ members. Published six times per year, The Round Robin reports on Club news, events and activities, but also offers stories on Swiss society and culture, as well as personal stories and insights from our members. This friendly and professional magazine also helps our members integrate into Swiss society by providing information needed to understand and adapt to our host country.
