Founded in 1931, the American Women's Club of Zurich welcomes US and North American citizens and women of all nationalities who appreciate the American way of life. We are a not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to providing opportunities for friendship and personal development. We also actively engage in philanthropic and community service projects in the greater Zurich region, throughout Switzerland and in the larger global community.

The AWCZ Clubhouse is located in the trendy Seefeld neighborhood close to museums, cinema, the Opera, restaurants, boutiques and the Lake of Zurich. It is easily accessible by public transportation (trams 2 & 4). There are garages and some street parking available.

 

Meet The Board

 

The American Women’s Club of Zurich is governed by a board of seven elected officers, an appointed parliamentarian and three appointed standing committee chairs. In addition, numerous special or ad hoc committee chairs are appointed, as necessary, for special projects and other Club activities and operations.

Executive Board

President:  Ellen Frick-Delman

Oversees activities of board officers and acts as official spokesperson of the Club. To contact the President email her at president@awczurich.org 

EllenHEADSHOT2017Ellen Frick-Delman was born and raised in New York City.  She received a master’s degree in Communication Arts from Syracuse University and has a professional background in marketing.

Ellen is Director of the Zurich America Center and Consular Agent (Honorarkonsulin), positions she has held with the US Embassy since 1996. Additionally, she is a member of the Corps Consulaire de Zurich.

Very community and philanthropic-oriented, she became active in various American and international organizations. She served on the Executive Board of the American Women's Club for eight years in various capacities and was President from 1994-96. Ellen is currently serving her second term as President.

In 2007, she was elected president of the American Club of Zurich and has the distinction of being elected the 1st woman president in the Club’s history. She is served as co-chair of the Swiss American Golf Championship until 2012 and is now co-chair of the organization’s Charity committee.  She is a founding member and President of Hadassah Switzerland (1999-2013), a non-profit organization that supports the renowned Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, is Hadassah International’s European Liaison, Global Marketing Chair of the Chagall Project and vice-chair of Hadassah International’s Communications Committee.

A natural networker with a large international circle of associates (Europe, North America and Asia) in the business, social and cultural environments; Ellen is often requested as a speaker to address the challenges of multicultural and intercultural living.

 

Vice President Member Relations & Activities: Eleanor Paunovic

Vice President Communications: Stacy Bebie-Laiderman

Responsible for marketing communications and public relations. To contact Stacy, email her at vpcommunications@awczurich.org

Stacy Bebie-Laiderman is an innovative and passionate communicator living and working in Zurich. For over a decade she has been managing digital campaigns and creating riveting and award-winning videos for See3 Communications that inspires audiences to take meaningful actions for organizations. She had a stint in the major motion picture industry and brings years of experience in the documentary film world, having worked on the award-winning Standing Silent Nation and The Calling. In addition to her work for See3 Communications she is a founding member of Big Bad Bettie Press, a bold and brassy independent art publisher and a producer of ELI Talks, Inspired Jewish Ideas.

Stacy has been in Switzerland for three years, and in Zurich for two. Her Swiss husband, Claude is an architect. She enjoys hiking, running, dance, gardening and brewing beer.

Anni

Anni Dore has contributed to the Christmas Market and Art Guild together with all the busy changes at the AWCZ.  She continues to be available to our members and public in coordination with Bookings and Security for our Clubhouse.  On her own time, she continues to teach Visual Arts, Art Workshops and creates drawings, paintings and sculptures for enjoyment. She is devoted to the joy and healing powers of the Creative process. Her MFA is coming to a completion, a journey, well worth the walk.
   

 

 Secretary: Diane Naenny

DianeNaennyBorn and raised in Costa Rica, Diane is of Swiss descent. As an adult, she spent a year in the United States, as well as a few years in Israel and Montreux, Switzerland. She finally dropped her suitcases in Zurich in May 2012 and has put down roots here with her Swiss husband and two cats. Diane studied photography. She is a member of the Bahá’í community, for which she has volunteered throughout the years in a variety of areas including event planning and photography.

Her employment background is quite varied, and includes airport customer service, interpreting for American companies, and serving as an administrative assistant. Although a new member of the AWCZ, Diane has quickly become very active in the club. She served as the official photographer for the 85th Anniversary Tea, as well as the recent Workshop Week.

 

 Treasurer: Rosmarie Gubser

Coordinates all Club financial transactions, reporting, budget and auditing activities. To contact Rosmarie email her at treasurer@awczurich.org 

Rosmarie Gubser holds a BA from the University of Melbourne, a Diploma of Librarianship from the Royal Institute of Melbourne as well as a Primary Teacher’s Diploma for Zürich. She briefly worked as a primary school teacher in Zürich before becoming a Librarian at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. Rosmarie then went on to a career at Productivity Software Resources in Melbourne in application development and project management. Following her return to Switzerland in 1990, she began a long career at IBM Switzerland culminating in a position as a finance controller.

After early retirement, Rosmarie began volunteering at Pro Senectute one half day a week as a Kindergarten helper as well as a Camp Leader two to three times a year for the “Zürcher Stiftung für Schülerferien”.

Rosmarie has been a member of the AWCZ since 2011 and has served as Library Chair as well as Assistant VP Clubhouse. She was also a member of the Clubhouse search committee. Rosmarie enjoys being a member of the AWCZ and believes active participation is more rewarding than just consuming.
