Since 1919, the Risa Hutwerkstatt has been making hats of all designs; the first owner took advantage of the very successful straw industry, making hats of straw. After many innovations and sidelines (drilling potatoes, drying fruits, and more), it has evolved into the only hat-making industry left in Switzerland. We will tour this intriguing place to see hats produced, and even make a purchase if we want. Next, we tour the nearby Straw Museum, a wonderful place once owned by the family of a fellow AWCZ member. Come see these living examples of Switzerland’s history, past and present.
