Learn to play Western Mahjong!
The Boston Globe has dubbed this "The new age of Mahjong." While mahjong has traditionally been the provenance of “old Jewish ladies and old Chinese men,” as one aficionado puts it, this isn’t the case anymore. For many fans of all ages, for men and women, it’s a respite from a device-infested world and a channeling of simpler times. Mahjong is a tile-based game that originated in China during the Qing dynasty. It’s a game for four or three players involving skill, calculation and a good dose of luck! In this workshop, you'll learn the basic rules of Mahjong, how to identify tiles, strategize and a few basic hands to play.
Mahjong is played at the club every second Wednesday of the month. If you already know how to play and are interested in joining the group please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Course presented by Stacy Bebie-Laiderman, The American Women's Club of Zurich VP of Communications and an avid mahjong player.
