The 19th century was a time of transition and controversy in French painting. Now familiar styles such as Romanticism, Realism and Impressionism arose in reaction to traditional academic painting. The acceptance of the work of artists such as Delacroix, Daumier, Courbet, Manet, Monet and Renoir was not assured. Other important artists of the time such as Delaroche, Couture, Meinssonier, and Bougereau enjoyed more recognition. Join Art Guild at the Kunsthaus Zurich and see what the debate was all about. Following the tour, we will have lunch in the Kunsthaus restaurant.
