The art of diplomacy is known to be invaluable during negotiation, when making policy and building coalitions. Being diplomatic in professional (and personal) settings can be instrumental when confronted with difficult situations, attempting to be persuasive or assertive. As one diplomat and author was quoted as saying: “Diplomacy is the art of letting someone else have your way.”
Brianna Powers, Consular Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Bern, will lead a discussion covering topics such as the importance of diplomacy in the workplace, and the evolution of the role of women in the U.S. diplomatic corps, including its challenges.
