A Message from the AWCZ President - 20 April 2020

A Message from the President:

Hello Everyone,

It’s hard to believe we’re into our 6th week of lockdown. I hope you, your family and friends are doing well. I’ve been checking on the clubhouse once a week, and all is good there. It’s patiently awaiting its walls to be filled with life and excitement again. Based on the Bundesamt für Gesundheit's (Federal Office of Public Health's) most recent information on the easing of restrictions, it looks as though we will be able to re-open on June 8. We will be having a virtual board meeting on Monday, April 27, to discuss this. I look forward to welcoming everyone back to the club for the AGM and Volunteer Luncheon on June 22. As always, if you need anything, I am just a phone call or email away.

A Message from the AWCZ President - 6 April 2020

A Special Message from the President:

I hope you and your families (near and far) are well.

As we have now finished the third week of lockdown, I want to remind you, that while it is hard right now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel waiting for everyone. Remember, should you need any help or a friendly voice to talk to, we have volunteers who are happy to provide you with it -- all you have to do is let us know.

We have updated the elections and Annual General Meeting, and set a tentative date of June 22, 2020.

We’ve decided to combine the AGM with the Volunteer of the Year luncheon, and I promise it will be a very special event that you won’t want to miss. Ballots will go out the first week of June.

Please keep an eye on our website, as we will start to offer some virtual workshops, as well as other virtual activities like Writer’s Group and Kids Corner. The May/June Round Robin will also be coming out, so watch your mailboxes.

Until we meet again, I wish everyone all the best.

A Message from the AWCZ President - 14 March 2020

Dear Members:

I hope this email finds you well amidst all the Coronavirus chaos. A vote was taken by the board yesterday and it was decided that all club activities which occur within the confines of the clubhouse, as well as the library, will be suspended until April 6, 2020. At that time, it will be decided based on the current situation whether the club will re-open to organized activities. Workshop Week 2020 is also cancelled.

The club activities that occur outside the club such as the walking group and Art Guild excursions will be at the discretion of the activity leaders. All rental contracts will be honored and will be allowed to continue uninterrupted.

The clubhouse itself will remain available to club members who feel the need to get out of their house and have a quiet place to read, get work done, or to just meet up with one or two friends and share support, because that is the basic mission of our club, to support each other.

The health of our members is the most important thing at this time. Should any of our older members or members who are at an increased risk for the virus need anything, please let me know. There are those of us who will be happy to go to the grocery for you, drop something off you may need, or help you out in any other way possible.

By now, everyone should know the proper procedures for good hygiene practices, as I’m sure you have been inundated with them via the news and social media. Two good sites for the most up to date information are:

If there is any way that I can help, please feel free to contact me via email at or by phone at 079 908 92 71.

Best Wishes,
