PAWZ: Alina Russ from LoLa's Kitchen

PAWZ June BakermediumYou are invited to meet our guest speaker Alina Russ, who with zero capital created a successful startup. We’ll discover how she embarked on her entrepreneurial journey, which began approximately one year ago.

Out of a personal/dietary necessity Alina started experimenting with recipes, creating healthy desserts that are vegan and gluten-free, and very tasty I might add. She will discuss her background, what she has learned, her dos and don'ts along with what role social media played.

Pop-UP Workshop: UpCycling Plastic Bags

PopUp logo plasticDuring the FAWCO Goes Green Initiative, we thought it would be fun, and an appropriate time, to have our first ever AWCZ Pop UP Workshop and let loose fusing together layers of shopping bags to UpCycle our plastic!

Join us for a VERY casual and creative morning of ironing down our plastic bags to create thicker sheets of plastic "fabric" that can be then sewn into purses, wallets, etc.

As of this publication, there will be one portable sewing machine on the premises, so we can not promise completely finished projects for all, but everyone should leave with a good idea how to continue or just enjoy their NEW plastic!

Look for ideas on Pinterest or the web by searching "fuse plastic bag." Here are some examples by Barbara G: Image one is fused plastic before using a sewing machine. Image 2 shows how much fun the sewing machine adds! And you don't have to be a seamstress when using the zig zag stitch!

What to bring?: If you have plastic shopping bags, bring them!
Do you have a portable sewing machine? Please contact us.
Useful, but not necessary: good sharp scissors, colorful pieces of threads, even bubble wrap!

Don't worry if you don't have a large quantity of plastic bags because there will be plenty at the Clubhouse to choose from.

Date: Wednesday, June 5
Time: 10.00 – 12.00
Cost: Free

Don't miss the FAWCO Goes Green talk on Zero Waste on Wednesday, June 12. We'll be well on our way...
