Vernissage
Caro Bühler – The Human Being at the Center
Caro Bühler’s paintings explore the human being in all their physical, emotional and psychological complexity. Drawing on her background in healthcare, she moves beyond anatomy to reveal the inner worlds of her subjects—their dreams, longings and vulnerabilities. Personal encounters and lived experiences form the starting point for her multilayered acrylic and oil paintings. Her vigorous, expressionist brushwork makes visible not only the body, but also what remains unseen beneath the surface. Those who look closely will discover hidden figures, emotions and stories that reach far beyond what first meets the eye.
Please email Nina: galleryattheclub@awczurich.org if you have any questions.

We are a diverse group of people from all corners of the AWCZ who enjoy reading and discussing books of all genres; past reading lists have included memoir, Pulitzer Prize-winning literary fiction, YA fantasy, essay collections, genre/ speculative fiction, middle grade, thriller, romance, literature in translation, and more. Special events include our light-hearted "Filthy February," when we read a romance novel and fill out romance-trope-themed Bingo cards (for a prize!), and our annual "Fourth of July Beach Read Yankee Swap". We decide our reading list via discussion and survey, five books at a time. Our 2026 Autumn / Winter reading list is:
September: Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
October: John of John by Douglas Stuart;
November: Lázár by Nelio Biedermann,
translated from German by Jamie Bulloch;
December: Golden Child by Claire Adam;
January: Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke
The best way to learn about our activity is to simply show up! We love welcoming new faces, and will be happy to answer any questions you have. Haven't read the book? As long as you don't mind spoilers, it's not a problem. We also begin every meeting with a potluck social hour, so feel free to bring something to share!
Registration for the Evening Wine & Cheese & Book Club is not required.
